 NetDIVE Free Software offering - FAQ

1) Are these free offering of NetDIVE products missing some features?
 
No. They are the full versions of NetDIVE products and contain all the features. You do not have to pay to get any additional features, they are all included in the free offering?

2) Are there any hidden costs?
 
No. There are no hidden costs, you are getting the NetDIVE software products totally for free, for the selected number of Seats - that simple. The only thing you pay for or is Support or any Professional Services development.

3) Do I have to buy additional support?
 
No. That is entirely up to you whether you will or not.

4) Can I install my free NetDIVE server on different servers?
 
Yes. You can move your free NetDIVE server from one server to up to 3 different servers.

5) Is the Support on a per server basis?
 
Yes. The Support is on a per server basis. Should you want suppprt for your NetDIVE software system on another server, you would need to buy new Support. So please make sure your server meets the requirements of the Check List before buying Installation Support or contacting us to proceed with your installation after having purchased Installation Support.

6) Are there any recurring fees?
 
Only if you purchase Installation + Annual Support contract are there monthly recurring fees for your Annual Support. Otherwise no. And should you want to you can cancel your Annual Support monthly recurring fees at any time.

7) What if I want even higher number of Seats (User) licenses?
 
You can simply upgrade from one level of Support to another and pay the difference between the two plus a 15% upgrade fee.

8) What does Support include?
 
It depends on the type of Support you have purchased. Please refer to the respective product for the various support options available and what each entails.

9) How long does installation of NetDIVE server take on my server?
 
This varies greatly from which NetDIVE server product you want installed to most importantly what server Operating System you have and how it is configured and whether you want Firewall enabled installation or not. With that said it can take from 1 to 3 man-days, and more. Although usually it is done in about 2 man-days.

10) How about integration with 3rd party software?
 
If you can integrate your NetDIVE software system with 3rd party products, then you do not need to pay us anything for this. OTOH, if you would like us to integrate your NetDIVE software systems with 3rd party software products, this service can be provided at $95.00 per man-Hour with minimum 40 man-Hour contract required.

11) Do you provide SQL integration for my free NetDIVE software?
 
Yes. Special "basic support" packages are available for purchase to integrate your NetDIVE software system with your SQL DB. They range from $199.00 to $395.00 fixed price if purchased when you are purchasing Support and higher if purchased later separately.

Please note: that "basic support" prices for integrating your NetDIVE software with your SQL DB is limited to integrating the Two servers to talk with one another and the development of any Web pages to read/write to your SQL DB or to Admin your SQL DB is up to you. However we can also provide you such support under a Professional Services contract at $95.00 per man-Hour as described under FAQ item 10.

12) What is Enterprise sales?
 
There is no difference in the NetDIVE software system obtained under an Enterprise sale or a non-Enterprise sale, they are the same exact software product. The difference is that under an Enterprise sale the customer will also get Engineering services to integrate their NetDIVE software product with their Enterprise backend, this means integrate it with their server, their SQL database, client side web pages, etc., as per the specification of the customer. Enterprise sale can also entail engineering services to custom develop new features for your free NetDIVE software product or to modify an existing feature, again as per the specification of the customer.

13) Do I pay any fees if I want to integrate my NetDIVE software?
 
No. You do not have to pay us any fees for whatever that you want to do with your free NetDIVE software. You only need to pay us if you want our Support or Engineering services.

14) How can NetDIVE afford to give its software for free?
 
Well in fact we would not be able to afford to give you our software products for free, and continue to develop them into "World Class" products that they are, if it was not for the revenues that we generate from Professional Services and Enterprise Sales. Because the fees that we are charge for Support, specially for low number of Seats, rarely even covers our actual cost of providing these Support.

So essentially we have decided to forgo 1,000s of Dollars in sales per customer to a large segment of the market, that is the Small to Medium size businesses, with the hope that by doing so we will capture a much larger segment of the market due to the fact that our products are "Best of breed" in their respective categories. And in the long term this symbiotic arrangement will in fact result in sales that will allow us to afford to continue to develop our products to the "Best of breed" status that they have while giving them away for free and just charging for Support.

15) Is NetDIVE Open Source License (NOSL) Same as GNU or BSD?
 
There are many similarities between NOSL and GNU/BSD but they are not exactly the same. Where they are similar is that NetDIVE products software binary are Free, NetDIVE product Source Code is open to review & change for Free under certain conditions. But otherwise NOSL is not a verbatim copy of GNU or traditional Open Source license. It is a rather novel Open Source license with it's goal being to create a community of NetDIVE software users, programmers & owners that are coming together to create the best software products for Internet communication. Where they are different is that although NetDIVE Source Code is Open for review and change, it is only open to qualified users based on an Enterprise class purchase. And any changes made that results in a product to be used only for the benefit of the changer does not require a loyalty payment to NetDIVE, however any derivative product(s) created form NetDIVE source codes which are offered commercially needs a commercial release license.
