CallSite Server Installation

Section: II. D

Starting and running CallSite (OVERVIEW)

The structure of the CallSite package is designed so that you will be set up as quickly as possible:

1. Unpack the archive file (for Windows or for Unix) to a directory on your Web server.
2. Install the Java Virtual Machine.
3. Configure and start the CallSite server.

For the rest of this documentation, we'll be using the following sample set-up as a guide; in configuring your own server, just replace (whenever instructed to do so) the information as it appears in the example below with the information appropriate to your own Web site.

Example configuration: Your Web site is at the URL: http://www.mydomain.com/
…and your domain name is www.mydomain.com
…and the root directory for your Web server is: /usr/mydomain/html/

Please Note: the actual path to a Web site's root directory varies widely from one system to another. Many Web servers might use other forms. To find out what the root directory for your Web server is, just locate the directory containing the file (usually 'index.html' or 'default.html') that is loaded when a visitor to your site points their browser to your site's main URL.
